Our purpose is to deliver brilliant buildings, transform lives, strengthen communities, and enhance the environment so our world is fit for future generations.
We have been a purpose-based sustainable company since 1852. Being sustainable helps us protect our own future against resource scarcity. It enables us to attract and retain good people. It means we can create whole life value for our customers and partners, and for the users of the buildings we construct.
The environmental and social challenges our world faces have never been greater. Conversations have at last turned from whether climate change is ‘real’ to the rate and extent of the change and the recognition of a narrowing opportunity to slow or halt the process.
In September 2020, we launched our new sustainability strategy, ‘Now or Never’, with a series of ambitious targets to achieve by 2030.
Our strategy and our ambitions are based around three themes - find out more by clicking on the icons:
Brilliant Buildings – Delivering buildings which are resilient to the impacts of our changing climate, conserve natural resources, use responsible, low-carbon resources, minimise carbon emissions and the cost of ownership, whilst improving people’s health and wellbeing.
Building Lives - supporting the people and businesses in our communities to thrive with a focus on helping young people facing societal or personal barriers to access good careers. Our Building Lives theme and associated activities are guided by the Willmott Dixon Foundation.
Better Planet - Creating a better planet for future generations by putting the climate, biodiversity and resources crises at the heart of the way we do business.
Now or Never builds on what we have learnt over the years in delivering sustainable buildings for our customers, minimising our environmental impact and leaving a positive legacy on the communities in which we work.
In 2019, we were awarded our third Queens Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development, the second time we have won the award. Our short film explains more.
